Harrisons were employed to work with a design provided by others at the tender stage and develop the design into a full working medical facility. This installation covered general mechanical and electrical services such as small power, lighting, boiler installation and sanitary-ware. In addition, several more specialist equipment/technologies were required for the buildings specific use, such as wall/ceiling mounted inspection lamps, basin mounted sluice (slop hopper) and sinks/taps to HTM standard. The new medical centre consists of 8 consulting rooms, 2 nurse practitioner rooms, various offices, archive store, shower room and several WCs.
Harrisons worked with the main contractor & architect (Thomas Wilson Architects) to ensure that all the client’s criteria for this project were met, these include the following:
- BREEAM very good rating
- Lighting to LG3/LG7
- HTM standards
Electrical
Harrisons undertook the following summary of electrical installation works:
- LED lighting throughout
- Lighting control via local switches and light-sensing PIR sensors
- Addressable fire alarm system
- Alarm, CCTV and Access Control
- Small power including antibacterial trunking
- Data installation
- Wall and ceiling mounted inspection lamps
Mechanical
Harrisons carried out the mechanical design and build works as summarised

- LSF radiators fitted throughout
- Air Conditioning installation for server/comms room
- Ladies, Men’s and disabled WC sanitaryware installation
- HTM compliant sink and taps for consulting and treatment rooms
